PLAY: Window Leaves

Heat Pressed Leaves :: 紅葉 :: hojas de otoño

Prep : Books about autumn leaves!

Materials:

  1. Pressed Autumn Leaves (mine are from last year!)
  2. Scissors
  3. Wax paper
  4. Iron
  5. Towel
  6. Construction Paper
  7. Glue

How To: HEAT PRESSED LEAVES

Cut wax paper into double 8.5×11 (17×22) pieces
Fold to make 8.5×11
Place leaves (use a piece of cardboard underneath to aid transfer to ironing board)
Fold the empty side of the wax paper over the leaves
Pick up cardboard and transfer sheet to the ironing board. Make sure ironing board has a towel. Slide off of cardboard
Fold the towel up and over the leaves, sandwiching the wax paper between towel. Iron paper
Check to make sure paper has melted together
Fold 8.5×11 construction paper in half, length-wise; fold again
Cut along fold lines for four (4) long strips per each piece of paper
Fold 8.5×11 construction paper in half, width-wise; fold again
Cut along fold lines for four (4) short strips per each piece of paper
Fold strips in half, attach to wax paper
Repeat!
